CID Director-General Yaa Donkor visits Awutu Obrachire SHTS following violent clashes during zonal athletics in Agona Swedru, as investigations continue and police assure justice.

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department of the , Yaa Donkor, has visited following the violent incident that marred a recent zonal athletics competition in Agona Swedru.

The visit comes in the wake of clashes that left a student injured during the competition, which involved students from Obrachire SHTS and the .

Purpose of the Visit

According to sources, the CID Director-General met with the school’s management to reaffirm the Police Service’s commitment to justice and the protection of students. The engagement also sought to calm tensions and assure the school community that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves.

She further followed up on the assaulted student after his discharge from hospital. The student is reported to be in stable condition and recovering steadily.

Commitment to Justice

Police authorities have emphasised that the visit was intended to show solidarity with the victim and his school while reinforcing the message that violence has no place in educational institutions.

“The Ghana Police Service remains fully committed to identifying and prosecuting every individual involved in this act,” a source close to the engagement indicated.

The incident has sparked public concern, particularly after videos of the assault circulated widely on social media.

Schools Must Remain Safe

Security officials have reiterated that schools must remain safe spaces for learning, growth, and development. Acts of violence, intimidation, and indiscipline, they stressed, undermine the purpose of inter-school activities and threaten student welfare.

Investigations by the CID remain ongoing. Authorities have assured that any persons found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
