The has directed all regional directors to facilitate participation in an upcoming nationwide virtual training focused on continuing professional development reforms and the uploading of CPD points.
In a circular dated February 10, 2026, and signed by the Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services), Prof. Smile Dzisi, the Service indicated that the training is being organised pursuant to Section 60(k) of the , which mandates the to promote and develop continuing professional development within the teaching profession.
Objective of the Training
According to the directive, the virtual meetings are intended to deepen understanding of ongoing CPD reforms and enhance the capacity of school personnel to upload CPD points accurately using the Teacher Portal Ghana platform.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen teacher professional standards and ensure compliance with national regulatory requirements.
Key Participants Identified
Regional Directors have been asked to inform Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education to release the following officers to participate in the sessions:
- Training Officers in each district
- Professional Learning Community Coordinators in each school
- Headteachers of all schools
GES Management emphasized the importance of full participation to ensure smooth implementation of the CPD reforms across all regions.
Schedule for Regional Sessions
The virtual meetings will be held from February 23 to February 27, 2026, covering all sixteen regions of Ghana in scheduled time slots.
On February 23, sessions will be held for the Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Western Regions. The following day, February 24, will cover the Central, Eastern, and Volta and Oti Regions. On February 25, the Northern, Upper East, and Upper West Regions will participate. February 26 will focus on the Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, and North East Regions, while the Western North and Savannah Regions will conclude the exercise on February 27.
Each region has been assigned a specific one-hour time slot to ensure effective coordination and engagement.
Strengthening Professional Standards
GES noted that accurate uploading of CPD points is essential for teacher licence renewal and professional accountability. The Service reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the National Teaching Council and other stakeholders to strengthen professional development systems within the education sector.
Regional and district authorities are expected to ensure strict compliance with the directive to guarantee the success of the nationwide training exercise.
