Security Guard Remanded Over Alleged Rape and Sextortion of Two KNUST Students

A 56-year-old security guard has been remanded by an Asokore Mampong court over alleged rape, extortion, and intimidation of two KNUST students.


Accused Arraigned Before Court

A 56-year-old security guard has been remanded into custody by the Asokore Mampong District Court for alleged rape and sextortion involving two students of the .

The accused, Lloyd Kwaku Boateng, is facing charges of sexual assault, extortion, and intimidation following incidents reported in February and April 2026.


First Alleged Incident in February

According to police prosecutors, the first incident occurred on February 13, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m. at the Ayeduase Roman Catholic Junior High School compound.

A 22-year-old student, whose identity is being withheld, had visited the premises with her boyfriend when the accused allegedly confronted them. He reportedly accused the couple of engaging in inappropriate conduct and assaulted the boyfriend.

Prosecutors told the court that the accused seized their mobile phones and keys and allegedly demanded GH₵300 before forcing the boyfriend to leave.

The accused is further alleged to have threatened the complainant and forcibly taken her into a classroom, where he sexually assaulted her.


Second Alleged Case in April

The court also heard of a second incident on April 4, 2026, involving a 23-year-old student.

Police say the accused again used his position to intimidate the complainant and her boyfriend before separating them. He allegedly detained the victim overnight and threatened her with a weapon.

Prosecutors indicated that the accused forced the victim to transfer GH₵150 via mobile money and allegedly took compromising images, threatening to release them if she reported the matter.


Arrest and Ongoing Investigations

The accused was arrested on April 13, 2026, after allegedly attempting to target another victim. He was apprehended by a member of the public and handed over to the police.

Medical reports submitted to investigators reportedly confirm physical trauma in both cases.

However, in his statement to police, the accused denied all allegations.


Court Proceedings Continue

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter.

The court has remanded the accused into custody, while duplicate dockets have been forwarded to the Attorney General’s office for legal advice.

The case has been adjourned to May 8, 2026.


Public Concern Over Safety

The incident has raised renewed concerns about safety in and around school environments, particularly during evening hours.

Authorities are expected to intensify surveillance and security measures to protect students and prevent similar incidents.
